This week, Stephanie, Omar, Nicholas and Rob preview Dane Dances and give an update on the Village Board recall in DeForest -- including why it's important beyond the village. Black Oxygen: Dr. Michelle Robinson on living and thriving with ADHD

This week Dr. Michelle Robinson and host Angela Russell talk about being Black women with ADHD. They discuss growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, being diagnosed as adults, how ADHD presents differently in girls and women compared to the traditional understanding, and shared experiences in perfectionism and executive functioning. Michelle emphasized the importance of neurodiversity as natural variation instead of pathology.  They go on a number of ADHD related side-quests and also end up talking about the Tamia Hustle, science, and climate change. 

🔗 100 Black Men of Madison, Inc. will host 30th annual Virginia and Perry Henderson Back to School Celebration on Saturday
The annual event aims to distribute more than 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to area students.

🔗 “Take Up Your Cross” march on Saturday will be a demonstration against cruelty in U.S. government policies
Organizers say the march will call attention to injustices in U.S. immigration and foreign policy, including treatment of Palestinians.

Supporters in Milwaukee launched a small flotilla on Lake Michigan in solidarity with international efforts to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza.

🔗 DeForest recall committee turns in 1,500 signatures, eyes September election
A group seeking to recall DeForest Area School Board member Jeff Miller submitted enough signatures to potentially trigger a special election.

🔗 New and returning eateries gear up for Madison’s 10th Black Restaurant Week
More than 40 restaurants, food trucks, and caterers will participate in the milestone celebration of Black-owned food businesses August 10–17.

🔗/ Dane Dances will kick off its 26th season on Friday night at Monona Terrace
The beloved free summer dance series returns with food, music, and community gathering on the rooftop of Monona Terrace.

Veteran center-back Jason Ramos rejoins Forward Madison FC on a short-term deal to bolster their defense during a busy stretch of the season
